Making Changes
ADAPT is a group run by the Hampton Trust for men who want to work towards living an abuse free life. Groups such as ADAPT are the recommended way of achieving this change.
However, some men are apprehensive about or initially reject the idea of joining a group. I offer one-to-one sessions for men in these circumstances. The aim of the one-to-one sessions is to work towards helping a man feel ready to join ADAPT. Usually six sessions will be sufficient to provide this support.
Occasionally it may not be possible for a man to join ADAPT e.g. because they work regular shifts or have specific individual needs. While the ADAPT group is the preferred way of making changes, in these circumstances one-to-one work is offered as an alternative. Usually eighteen to twenty five sessions will be needed to support this change.
In both of the above situations sessions last 60 minutes and cost £40. The sessions can be funded either by an Agency or by an individual.
The sessions are provided with the agreement of, but independent to, the Hampton Trust by John Bennett. John is a fully trained and experienced facilitator of the ADAPT programme and a BACP Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist
Sessions normally take place at my home office between Basingstoke and Fleet, within a thirty to forty minute car journey of Guildford, Woking, Southampton and Reading. Sessions can also be undertaken at an Agency with a possible extra cost depending on travel implications.
